Educators need to measure the gap between the skill levels students possess and the levels of those skills that employers require. The Georgia Work Ready program is the first step in eliminating such gaps to improve students' success in the workplace.

Students, working with counselors, can draw upon the Georgia Work Ready Program to compare their skill levels with those required by occupations they are considering and identify skill areas in which they may need to improve.

Assessment scores also allow students to realize the importance of their studies. Students document their readiness for work, giving them an edge with the growing number of employers who accept or require the Georgia Work Ready Certificate from job applicants.

Benefits of Using the Georgia Work Ready Program

  • Identify gaps between student skills and employment needs
  • Align curricula to meet the job skills employers need
  • Develop more efficient teaching strategies
  • Improve students' success in entry-level and subsequent jobs
  • Increase chances that graduates will be hired

Graduating seniors may take the Georgia Work Ready assessment at no cost by contacting their local technical college.
The Georgia Work Ready Program uses ACT WorkKeys as the tool for measuring skill levels of students preparing for work. Prep packages and practice tests are available through the local DTAE technical colleges.
