Preparing to Take the Georgia Work Ready Assessment


The Technical Colleges System of Georgia is the service delivery provider for the Georgia Work Ready assessment.  Each college has an established Work Ready Center with staff trained to help every Georgian successfully earn a Work Ready credential.  The Work Ready Centers offer on-line self guided tutorial access at no charge and Work Ready support classes at minimal charge.  Find a technical college Work Ready Center near you.

ACT WorkKeys is the vendor for the Georgia Work Ready assessment.  They offer a variety of on-line tutoring support available from their website.  Below is a guideline of how to access and prepare for successfully attaining a Georgia Work Ready Certificate.

The characteristics/skills covered by each WorkKeys assessment, as well as sample items, can help you become familiar with the types of questions contained on the tests.

Full-length WorkKeys practice tests are available
Taking a WorkKeys practice test will give you an opportunity to become familiar with what the test looks like and the type of questions you'll be expected to answer when taking a regular WorkKeys assessment.

Steps To Improving Your Score

The key to scoring higher on your assessments is planning and organization. The following three steps will help you prepare for taking the tests and are available either without charge or for a nominal fee.

Step 1: Analyze characteristics and sample items from the assessment tests
Step 2: View instructional materials at the technical college serving your county
Step 3: Take a preparation course at the technical college serving your county

The characteristics/skills covered by each Georgia Work Ready assessment, as well as sample items, can help you become familiar with the types of questions you'll find on the tests.

Step 2: View Instructional Materials
The Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education technical colleges will provide on site access via computers to online support instructional materials at no cost.  

Step 3: Take a Preparation Course
Sign up for preparation course at a participating technical college. These are offered at a minimal charge. Check the schedule to see when the Georgia Work Ready  assessments will be offered.

 

Self-Study Materials
You can take a full-length WorkKeys practice test online.
The following tests are currently available:

 

  • Applied Mathematics
    $4.50
  • Locating Information
    $4.50
  • Reading for Information
    $4.50

The practice tests will be timed, and you will receive an estimate of the level score you achieved at the end of each test.  You may also review each question and see why the answer you chose was correct or incorrect.
