Aerospace Work Ready Region

 

Georgia's Work Ready Regions is an industry cluster strategy. Each region is an industry-led effort headed by an industry leader and guided by the region's existing industry network. The result is a linking of education, workforce development and training aligned to the needs of the regional aerospace industry.  Its aerospace industry network is known as the Chattahoochee Valley Aerospace Region.

The Chattahoochee Valley Aerospace Region, to date, includes Chattahoochee, Harris, Marion, Muscogee, Quitman, Stewart and Taylor Counties. Six of the counties in the region are currently working toward Certified Work Ready Community status.

The region is home to major aerospace manufacturing and parts suppliers. It has a skilled workforce that is focused on filling jobs for growing aerospace companies. Click here for more detail about the region's workforce.

Vision:

The Chattahoochee Valley Aerospace Region is recognized as a prime location for Fortune 500 aerospace parts manufacturing and maintenance industry clusters.

 

Differentiating the Chattahoochee Valley Aerospace Region:

  • Close proximity to Ft. Benning will provide a qualified and ample supply of highly skilled labor
  • Advanced Manufacturing Center of Excellence will be the preferred provider for advanced training in aerospace manufacturing processes
  • Specialized dual-enrollment and co-op programs, resulting from sustained partnerships between the aerospace industry and regional school districts, will ensure a prepared workforce for the next decade
  • Seven-county region will promote a gold Work Ready Certified workforce to prospective and expanding industry

Goals:

  • Ensure that a sustainable system is in place to recruit, select and train current regional workforce applicants for placement in aerospace and defense employment utilizing Georgia Work Ready Certification
  • Close current and future industry-identified skill gaps of the current and prospective aerospace and defense workforce
  • Introduce and prepare high school students for employment opportunities in aerospace, defense and related industries utilizing best practices in advanced manufacturing, corporate readiness, mentoring and performance coaching
