East Central Energy
Energy Work Ready Region
Georgia's Work Ready Regions is an industry cluster strategy. Each region is an industry-led effort headed by an industry leader and guided by the regions existing industry network. The result is a linking of education, workforce development and training aligned to the needs of the regional sustainable architecture and construction industry. Its sustainable architecture and construction industry network is known as the East Central Georgia Energy Conduit.
The East Central Georgia Energy Conduit Region, to date, includes Burke, Columbia, Jefferson, Jenkins, McDuffie and Richmond Counties. Jefferson, Jenkins and McDuffie Counties have earned Certified Work Ready Community status and the remaining three counties are working toward the designation.
The region is home to Plant Vogtle, one of Georgia Power's two nuclear facilities, as well as to a National Security Administration (NSA) facility at Fort Gordon. Its workforce is certified by The Nuclear Regulatory Commission and is capable of working on technically complex projects. The East Central Georgia Energy Conduit has a training infrastructure in place to train future workers for energy-related construction projects, ensuring that the region's industries have strong support moving forward.
